This collage utilizes depictions of Venus and Cupid from the Art Institute of Chicago’s collection. In preparation for this piece and moving forward with it all artworks were viewed in person in collaboration with the Prints & Drawings Reading Room. In which depictions that were not on view within the museum were shown privately to the artist.
This piece interacts and shines a lot on the various art historical depictions and interactions Venus and Cupid have shared. Highlighting their relationship as mother and son, but also artists’ conceptions of the figures throughout time.
